Hope everyone is doing well over the holiday season. I know I haven't been dolling much lately but I have been really busy in SecondLife. I'm helping build a Tron sim and coordinating the grand opening party. I've also put up a white version of my Tron suit, which by the way was inspired by my Tron doll. I'm making a movie replica of the Sirens' outfits and so far, I only have a few more light lines to go.

I'm also getting more into the modeling and photography aspect of SL. I've impressed at least one photo studio owner so I'm happy. I have a temporary in-world store modeling job at a popular shoe store so yay, more experience and exposure.

I am collecting the links and forms that artists can use to send to graphics hosts for copyright infringement notices. I will update it with more graphic host suggestions.

Each web graphics host handles copyright infringement letters differently. Some require special wording within the letter for them to take legal action. These letters can be applied for graphic or literature copyright infringement.

Fav, link, tell a friend... This person is going down. Congratulations to the deviants who got together to bring down a few of this thief's websites. No doubt there are more out there but it is the small victories that count. Inch by inch, we will track this person down and give them to the law.

Common Miscats
With Community Volunteers (CV) having no power to move mis-categorized deviations, it is up to the deviants to keep on their toes when submitting new art. For the most part the gallery descriptions are pretty straight to the point but that would imply that users actually read them... obviously some do not even bother or care.

What is a miscat? It is when a deviation is mis-categorized into the wrong gallery. You can edit the category of a deviation by going to the deviation's page and clicking Edit on the bottom right of the artwork.

I report all miscats that I see, regardless if they are in the Digital Dolls gallery or not. I have also taken the time to report a deviant's ENTIRE gallery numerous times. And yes, there is a report limit and I have hit it before.

If you have questions about what I have written below, feel free to comment or note me. If I am totally wrong on something, then please correct me.

No, I do not mind if you link this journal to anyone. If they have a problem, then they can get their panties out of a wad and talk in a civil manner with me.

Oh and to those who have blocked me, it does not mean I am blocked from reporting your gallery miscats. I could care less if I was blocked since it is such a misused system.

Dollmakers/Character Generators
FAQ #502: Can I submit things which I made using different "games" like a doll maker or with other character generators?
FAQ #306: Does "Crediting" let me use whatever I want?

• They belong under "My Scrapbook", period. (When categorizing, it is on the top left side, under "Frequently Used".)
• Uploading to any other gallery, such as Digital Dolls, and then re-categorizing them to Scraps just so your viewers will be notified is a waste of your time. If you have friends who do not watch your Scraps, ask them to do so. It is NOT forcing them and it is not hard to do either.
• DollDivine creations that are meant to be adopted belong under DeviantART Related > Devious Fun > Adoptables.
• dA staff will remove these items with this message: Reason: Your deviation has been moved to scraps because drag and drop doll maker dolls do not meet the requirements of the digital dolls category. I hope that FAQ502 and this article lyricanna.deviantart.com/journ… will help to clear things up. I am sorry for the inconvenience and I hope that you have a good afternoon.

Pixel/Sprite Characters

• If it is meant to emulate a game sprite, then it is a sprite and not a Doll.

Pixel/Sprite Recolors

• They belong under "My Scrapbook", period. (When categorizing, it is on the top left side, under "Frequently Used".)
• Uploading to any other gallery, such as Digital Dolls, and then re-categorizing them to Scraps just so your viewers will be notified is a waste of your time. If you have friends who do not watch your Scraps, ask them to do so. It is NOT forcing them and it is not hard to do either.
• Recolors of sprites, such as the Pokemon Trainers, do not make the artwork yours. It can be considered art theft even if you credit the source.

Miscellaneous Animated GIFs
FAQ #39: I just tried to submit a file to X Category, but it told me the filetype I am trying to upload is not allowed. What can I do?

• Digital Dolls is NOT the only gallery you can submit GIFs to.
• For non-dolling animated GIFs, such as an animated photo, Digital Art > Miscellaneous > Animated works just fine.
• Screen captures of movies/shows are not original art. The can only be submitted under My Scrapbook.

Memes/Meme Templates

• All memes, regardless if they use a base/template, belong under DeviantART Related > Devious Fun > Memes.
• Meme templates can be placed under DeviantART Related > Devious Fun > Memes OR Resource and Stock Images > Miscellaneous if they are blanks.

Profile Sheets/Character Sheets

• Regardless if you use a doll and/or base, if the deviation has the character's likes, dislikes, age, sex, blood type, etc. then the result is a profile/character sheet, not a doll.
• Is the end result a doll? No. Then the profile sheet of a character belongs under Digital Art > Drawings > ... , regardless if you use a base/template.
• If it is based off of a movie/series/game/etc. then it should go under Fan Art > Digital Art > Drawings.

Profile/Character Sheet Templates

• Bases are of the humanoid form and for adding on clothes, hair and accessories.
• Is it a humanoid form? No. Then the template belongs under Resource and Stock Images > Line-Art & Character Sheets.

Adoptables

• All adoptables, regardless if they use a base/template, belong under DeviantART Related > Devious Fun > Adoptables.
• Line art bases/templates for adoptables belong under Resource and Stock Images > Line-Art & Character Sheets.

Icons/Avatars

• Is the end result a doll? No. Then it belongs under Customization > Icons > Avatars > ..., regardless if you use a base/template.
