The Statistics

It's amazing what you can learn about your personal website visitors just from looking over your statistics. I use StatCounter. Thought I would share with you all some of the more useful stats that I've gotten.

Browsers
34.4% - Internet Explorer
29.2% - FireFox
27% - Chrome
7.6% - Mobile Device (An Android phone?! Alright, who's got it?... I want!)
1.4% - Safari
0.4% - Opera

Countries
73.4% - United States
10.6% - Canada
5.6% - Italy
2.8% - Brazil
2.4% - Netherlands
1.6% - United Kingdom
1.2% - Slovakia
0.8% - Sweden
0.8% - Hong Kong
0.4% - Germany
0.4% - Australia

Screen Resolutions
57.9% - 1280-1429px
11.7% - 1024-1152px
11.3% - 853-905px
8.8% - 1440-1440px
6.2% - 1600-1680px
3.3% - 1600x900
3.3% - 1920-1920px
2.9% - 1680x1050
0.8% - 768-768px

Visit Length
32.1% - Less than 5 secs
19.6% - From 30 secs to 5 mins
17.9% - From 5 secs to 30 secs
16.1% - Longer than an hour
10.7% - From 5 mins to 20 mins
3.6% - From 20 mins to an hour

Breakdown
So looking at this, my website should cater to Internet Explorer and FireFox users with the screen resolutions between 1280-1429px, 1024-1152px and 853-905px. I should consider adding some sort of multilingual translating for French, Italian, Spanish and possibly Swedish. (How the heck am I going to do that?! Besides GoogleTranslator on ever page.) Most of my visitors only last about 5 seconds to 5 minutes... fail. But amazingly, about 16% last over an hour? They're probably bots...

My top exit links though are:

DHF (Oddly enough... I need to remove that link now.)
MDFantasy (Dena, when are you going to update this? :XD: )
Fainelloth (Fain, update your site!)
My dA account (Woot, lol)
Angelic Sakuras (Laura)
Calliberry (Calli)
Selinit Tower (Werelyan)
DifferentFree (Which apparently no longer exists too.)
Xandorra (Amy)
Pyrochan (Pyro, of course)

I use Google Analytics for mine. Sometimes I get addicted to going to see my stats lol. I agree that search strings are sometimes hilarious. Here are some real ones from my site:
"How to get rid of all colors but black on mspaint"
"gymnastics pixel perfect"
"I have a centered layout how do I place divs on that layout"
"programs used to for dolling"
"pixel doll yazzdoll"
"advanced pixel doll art"

I'm not sure if Stats Counter does that, but it would be good to find out what specific version of Internet Explorer people use. There are big differences in the way IE6, IE7, IE8 and IE9 treat pages. And if a negligible amount of users use old versions of IE, you can stop worrying about your site working in those :)

I don't think it's worth it to try and translate your site. A lot of those are people who *do* speak english, but their computer is set up on another language. And if people really don't understand, it's not hard for them to get google to translate the page themselves. . . and if they use Chrome, it'll do it for them :P

Also, it's normal that a lot of people leave the site really quickly. Most of those people come from google: they click on your site link looking for something. If they don't find the thing they are looking for straight away, they'll leave. If they do find it, they'll also leave because they have what they wanted.
